Building a Net Zero Energy Modular Home with Lord Contractors
Lord Contractors, Inc. is proud to present the construction process of our latest Net Zero Energy Modular Home project in Quakertown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
The process starts with a schematic and a location.
Our clients chose this beautiful 17-acre lot in Quakertown, Pennsylvania for construction of their Net Zero Energy Modular Home. This new custom residence is sited facing south to benefit solar gain and to overlook a pond on the property. The first step in the construction of our Bucks County Net Zero Energy Modular Home project is this custom home schematic. Once complete, it is sent to Simplex Homes for engineering drawings.
Creating a superior quality modular structure in a controlled environment
Our Bucks County Net Zero Energy Modular Home is constructed at the Simplex Homes climate controlled production facility in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Ensuring the structure meets the absolute highest possible standard, four boxes (two floors with the third floor on hinges to pop-up) are created at the facility. Ready-to-install, super energy efficient Klear Wall Industry windows are manufactured in Ireland and shipped to the facility to be installed along with the kitchen, bathrooms and lighting fixtures.
Hoisting the Boxes
Securing the modular structure on its foundation
The Net Zero Energy Modular Home travels two hours from Scranton to Quakertown, Pennsylvania by tractor trailer. The skilled set crew prepares the modulars to be hoisted and set onto the foundation by a crane, and then secures them in place. Photography: Andy Logan Smith, proud homeowner.
Creating a superior quality net zero energy modular structure
After the Net Zero Energy Modular Home is secured, shingles are added and the attic dormer is set. Our Net Zero Energy Modular Home is well on its way to completion.
A connection to the environment
Adding to the architectural balance of this Net Zero Energy Modular Home, a wrap-around porch and screened-in porch are framed. Overlooking the pond, this outdoor living space connects the homeowners with the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Once the porches are under roof, the James Hardie siding is installed.
The finishing work
Our Net Zero Energy Modular Home, Bucks County, Pennsylvania residence is in the home stretch! Inside drywall is complete, kitchen cabinets are hung, and the island is set. Bathrooms are tiled and interior doors are installed.
